Apartment Noir
Delhi NCR, 2025Set within a contemporary residential development in Gurugram, Apartment Noir reconsiders the spatial potential of a standard developer apartment through calibrated architectural interventions. Designed for a retired couple, the 1,750 sq ft home prioritises spatial hierarchy, material restraint, and quiet adaptability. A key move was the reconfiguration of the original primary suite into a media room—shifting the narrative of the apartment from formal living to layered inhabitation. This transformation allows the home to accommodate both retreat and entertainment while preserving privacy within the family quarters.
Apartment Noir becomes less about ornamentation and more about spatial recalibration.
"Luxury here is understated—found in restraint, comfort, and the calm continuity between material, light, and routine."

Material decisions further shape the interior experience. Lime-plastered walls were selected for their ability to reflect natural light while retaining textural depth, allowing daylight to move gently across surfaces throughout the day. Marble and textured glass introduce contrast without excess, maintaining a palette that remains tactile yet disciplined.

The media bathroom layers folded subway tiles that wrap the counter like finely creased paper. Terrazzo walls anchor the rhythm, pulling light and shadow into a unified field of tone. An immersive, softly hued space shaped through material precision.
